“After a long hard day I still have the energy to do something besides plop in front of a TV”
- What were your reasons for accepting the Lean for Life Challenge?
I accepted this challenge to help me improve my physical condition. The challenge supplies me with some tools and classes as well as a goal for the amount of time to improve. Taking the challenge helps motivate me to stay on track and do my best. On top of that my wife agreed to take the challenge with me and what guy doesn’t want a hot wife?
- What were your successes, obstacles, life changes, etc. during the Challenge?
My most satisfying success was the loss of 7.5 inches of fat while adding 1.25 inches of muscle. But close to that was having the ability to take 10 minutes off of my best time ever and 15 minutes off of last year’s time to complete the “Emmett’s Most Excellent Triathlon” at the Olympic distance. I did this without having much time on a bike or running to train for the race.
My biggest obstacle is my job, sitting at a desk or behind a steering wheel for sometimes 12 hours a day. On top of that the stress of the job make me want to snack.
The life change that I noticed first was an increase in energy. After a long hard day I still have the energy to do something besides plop in front of a TV. Some of the little surprises and very satisfying changes that I noticed during the challenge are how much easier it was to climb a flight of stairs that I climb several times a day and when I put my hand over my heart during the national anthem I feel a firm pectoral and not a man boob.
